With drop shipping you make retail profits on sales to your customers.

With affiliate marketing you earn a commission on sales but the customer isn't yours but the supplier's.

With affiliate marketing you merely refer visitors to your supplier while with drop shipping you are actively involved in the marketing and the service to the customer.

I use both systems, sometimes even on the same web site, and each have their advantages and disadvantages. A lot depends on how much work you want to put in.
